Athletic Jerseys

softball jerseys

The sporting season never ends here at Alpha. Because we do primarily fun and adult sporting leagues we find ourselves designing jerseys year round. Our process is meant to be quite client friendly. Oftentimes new clients tell me they never saw the finished product until it was in their hands. Here at Alpha we work a bit differently.

In this particular case for example the client called and wanted originally a button front jersey but had a limited budget. We gave three different options for pricepoint and included three art renderings including the split front. Upon review they decided this option met their needs and their budget. Result-happy client!

Decorated MicroFiber or Soft Shell Jackets

It is still summer here in Minnesota but already we are working on fall jackets!  The microfiber or softshell jacket is by far the most popular option.  They come in a variety of styles and colors and oftentimes offer both a mens and ladies version.  We have several clients who are using these jackets for their “Awards” Jacket for their summertime sport.  Racing, Horse, Rodeo, 4H and Ball Sports to name a few.  They also make a GREAT! corporate gift either for your own staff to unify your brand or for your top tier of clients.

We wanted to highlight one client in particular who took the decorating process to the extreme which is really fun to do and maximizes the advertising potential for the client.  The jacket below has embroidery, rhinestones, applique and metallic embroidery.  The ladies look awesome in them don’t you agree!  They are a show stopper!

This is one of my favorite decoration methods.  You can go high buck and have the material printed and then sewn into a jersey which is a great option for a totally custom look.  This option is quicker, less expensive and carries most of the impact the other does!  The process is pretty simple, a design is made and approved, shirts are ordered and printed and all of that in under 3 weeks!  This option is great for volleyball teams, softball and baseball, landscaping and lawn care companies.

These are super affordable and the shirts are uv 30 and moisture wicking!

Buttons oh Buttons!

Buttons are a great way to share a message.  The first photographic image on pins or buttons dates to 1860. Abraham Lincoln and his various opponents used the tintype or ferrotype photo process.

The first mass production of metal buttons dates to the 1896 William McKinley campaign for president with “celluloid” buttons with one side of a metal disk covered with paper (printed with the message) and protected by a layer of clear plastic.

Since 1916, buttons have also been produced by lithographing the image directly onto the metal disk.  A celluloid-type button is fastened to a garment using a pin on the back side of the button (in recently-produced buttons, the pin generally fits into a safety-pin-style catch). A lithographed button may fasten with a pinback or with a metal tab which folds over a lapel or pocket.

One of the most famous uses of campaign buttons occurred during the 1940 U.S. presidential election, when Wendell Willkie‘s campaign produced millions of lithographed slogan buttons in rapid response to news items about President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Now that we have a history of buttons, let’s look at what options we have for today!

Our custom buttons are an inexpensive and effective advertising tool. We offer nine different sizes and styles ideal for any campaign, even or function!

Buttons come in various shapes and sizes.  The company I use is located in the USA (Made in the USA) and does not charge a set up fee which makes these one of the few items in the industry to do so.

If you are thinking that a pin back is the only way to go, think again. Buttons now come with mirrors on the backside (great for ladies), magnetized for fridges and even have a bottle opener on the back!  Some other unique options are zipper pulls and key tags.

And if you think round is the only shape, think again!  Square, rectangular, oval are all available!  With prices starting at just .21, these are an affordable way to help get your name out there!

Vendor Spotlight-Apparel Decoration

Oftentimes I am asked when meeting a client for the first time, what makes me different. While that is a loaded question here is the short answer on the apparel front.  Because I started in the business actually decorating garments (I still do some) I understand what looks good and what works.  We have all seen a decorated garment when it doesn’t look good and my goal is to always provide the best garment for the best price.  To that end I am pleased to partner with my wholesale decorator who also happens to be a local business, Shop Local!

What makes my partner different is they completely research the technology and invest in the right equipment and then train their staff properly to turn out some of the hottest garments in the industry!  A great example of their commitment to this is the digital printing technology.  As a small business I can buy basically a table top version to do this.  Their version however is bigger than my car and puts out a near perfect print every time.  There really is no comparison between the two in quality and life expectancy.

Here is some of the work:659_tn_gallery 205_tn_gallery 271_tn_gallery 398_tn_gallery 576_tn_gallery 600_tn_gallery 631_tn_gallery 652_tn_gallery

From standard screenprinting to laser etching or dye sublimation, this partner makes it easy for me to fulfill every need.

Volleyball Shirts

It’s that time of year when outdoor sports are prevelant.  Have you noticed many bar and grills now have volleyball courts, bocce ball and if you live in Minnesota bean bag throws.  That is all super fun but what really makes a team bond is decorated shirts 🙂

2013-07-09 17.53.062013-07-09 17.53.28Team shirts can be done very affordably for any quantity.  Rather than shop online, shop local and let us help you with your team shirts!  We do comp art for you and work with your budget.

Extreme Sports Shirts!

I am having the pleasure of working with Rice Bull Riding.  They are for sure an extreme sport being a bull riding production company who operate many of the bull riding events in the state of mn!  I am looking forward to becoming a bull riding fan this summer!  What has been fun is their total commitment to brand their business.  From wristbands to can koozies, signs and banners to custom all over dye sublimated shirts, they are branded!  (forgive the pun!)

I have posted before on dye sub shirts but wanted to give you some visuals of how this process looked for Rice. We started with a shirt they had from a previous vendor that they liked in terms of fit and breathability.  They knew they wanted their logo of course and flames.  From there we doctored it up and gave them a few visuals to select from:

From there a sample shirt was run, some tweaks were made and viola!  The finished jersey

2013-06-07 12.56.142013-06-07 12.56.07 These are a spectacularly graphic way to express your brand and overall very low in cost for the return on investment.  Because they are a wicking poly they will last a long time.

Check them out on bulltour.com or on facebook.  Had to include one of the shirts in action, kudos to the photographer!

Photo: I want to thank Rice Bull Riding Co. and MT Bucking Bulls for their hospitality and congrats to all for a fun, standing room only event!!!
Hoping to have the rest of the photos on line tonight...I will post a link when they are ready.

Custom T Shirt Printing

This is another decoration method that can be quite confusing.  Believe me it has come a long way in the years since I first started.  Essentially you have an event or sport or organization that you want to do custom t shirts for right?  Depending on the number of shirts, the color or colors in the art and the material of the shirts, you can now have the shirts screenprinted, dye sublimated or digitally printed.

Not to worry, not your job to know which, that would be mine!  The first step of this is where I think you can go right or wrong on your decision making.  I had a potential client call me just this week and they had ordered custom printed t shirts online from that online source, you know the one!  Six weeks later, no shirts and the big online source couldn’t track them.  Now, I know this is probably the rarity and most orders are flawless but let me encourage you as a small business owner that relationships matter.

They matter in making sure the art you have works, that the shirt is going to look like what you want when you get it and stand behind the shirts if they don’t look like they should.  Make sense?  PLUS local businesses like myself are usually quicker and comparably priced to the online retailers.  We also can do other things like business cards, coaster and car vinyl just like the big boys do too 🙂

So again, we start with your logo and your idea for a shirt:

hats

Then we design a shirt around it in the colors you want:

bulldogs

Then we print the shirt and viola! your art comes to life!

Who says branding your business has to be old school? Jazz up your life with your brand. Shaun Kaeding from Don O’s Pest Control is a prime example. She doesn’t stop at embroidered pools and hats, no way! These are some yoga pants for her workout wear jazzed up with super glitter bling. We have also done jackets with rhinestones and fun print shirts and sweatshirts.
