Purchases with a Purpose

I once heard a sermon where the pastor said if you want to know where a persons heart and passion lie, look to where they spend their money.  Needless to say that has stuck with me.  As a faith based business we are always looking for ways not just to help people grow their business but to help them have better lives.  At the beginning of this year we added a new custom gift line to our offering called Trades of Hope.  This organization is unique in the marketplace as each purchase helps an impoverished woman somewhere in this world.  We have been talking about this organization on our facebook page since January 1 but today I was sent a Thank You video from Katie Davis who wrote the book Kisses from Katie.  I had the pleasure of reading this story of this young woman’s remarkable journey into Uganda and the hearts of the people there.  Hers is one of the many missions that Trades of Hope buys from at a fair trade rate, normally six times what the woman would receive if they tried to sell their craft locally.  Katie’s story touched my heart, I hope it touches yours!  Her missions product can be purchased direct from our Trades of Hope Compassion Gift Link on our website

Challenge or Collectible Coins

Challenge Coins are an American tradition that date back to World War I. The coins originated within the Military as a symbol of the organization that made it become easily recognizable if they were asked to present their coins. The very first unit in the US Military known to have a coin was the oldest Special Forces Unit in the US Army. The coins were and continue to be given out by Military Generals and Commanders as well as all of the other branches of the armed forces such as Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and the Navy.

The “challenge” comes from making sure that each member of the unit is carrying their coin. The challenger will challenge everyone to slam their coins down on the table and the last one to do so has to buy a round of drinks. However, if everyone produces the coins, the challenger is the one who has to buy the round.
Today, it is not uncommon for Police and Fire departments to distribute challenge coins to increase morale or build spirit within their ranks and departments.

These coins can also be used as collectible or commemorative coins.  AA uses coins to designate and celebrate your years of sobriety.  Pricing is based on overall design and quantity along with materials chosen and remember they do not have to be round.  Shield shaped or state shaped are an option!

Buttons oh Buttons!

Buttons are a great way to share a message.  The first photographic image on pins or buttons dates to 1860. Abraham Lincoln and his various opponents used the tintype or ferrotype photo process.

The first mass production of metal buttons dates to the 1896 William McKinley campaign for president with “celluloid” buttons with one side of a metal disk covered with paper (printed with the message) and protected by a layer of clear plastic.

Since 1916, buttons have also been produced by lithographing the image directly onto the metal disk.  A celluloid-type button is fastened to a garment using a pin on the back side of the button (in recently-produced buttons, the pin generally fits into a safety-pin-style catch). A lithographed button may fasten with a pinback or with a metal tab which folds over a lapel or pocket.

One of the most famous uses of campaign buttons occurred during the 1940 U.S. presidential election, when Wendell Willkie‘s campaign produced millions of lithographed slogan buttons in rapid response to news items about President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Now that we have a history of buttons, let’s look at what options we have for today!

Our custom buttons are an inexpensive and effective advertising tool. We offer nine different sizes and styles ideal for any campaign, even or function!

Buttons come in various shapes and sizes.  The company I use is located in the USA (Made in the USA) and does not charge a set up fee which makes these one of the few items in the industry to do so.

If you are thinking that a pin back is the only way to go, think again. Buttons now come with mirrors on the backside (great for ladies), magnetized for fridges and even have a bottle opener on the back!  Some other unique options are zipper pulls and key tags.

And if you think round is the only shape, think again!  Square, rectangular, oval are all available!  With prices starting at just .21, these are an affordable way to help get your name out there!

Trade Show Displays

I had the pleasure of visiting a local business this week who specializes in trade show displays.  They do everything from imprinted tents to banners, flags, table covers and the full floor display.  What impressed me most was the variety and innovation they are showing in their product along with their price points!  Over the next couple of weeks I will be showcasing different items from them.  I love to support other local businesses while helping my customers achieve their trade show goals for a fraction of the price!

Today we will start with the standard, the 8 or 10 foot trade show booth.  This package is right around $2200.00 plus tax and shipping if applicable with camera ready art. The little table in the front doubles as the carry case for the display and is on wheels.  It has the slipcover that goes over it for the maximum graphic appeal. You can also mix and match elements with all of the items I will be featuring over the next few weeks.

Church Promotional Products

Working with churches is one of my greatest joys as a Faith based business.  Oftentimes they are working on a budget and that is why promotional products are a perfect fit for them to spread the good news!

Pens are a great way to share a brand for a church.  They are convenient in the pews and a good affordable giveaway for special events or to kick off fall bible classes and small groups.  My favorite pen company offers many pens, plastic, metal and all usa made..

Volleyball Shirts

It’s that time of year when outdoor sports are prevelant.  Have you noticed many bar and grills now have volleyball courts, bocce ball and if you live in Minnesota bean bag throws.  That is all super fun but what really makes a team bond is decorated shirts 🙂
